Satellite Racing is happy to announce it’s latest build project! We’ll be putting together a Volkswagen Beetle dubbed “Dirty Dori”. It’s racing destination when all together will be the world of Rally Cross Racing. Matt Williams has come onboard as the lead project manager. “I’m very excited about the build and the partnership with Satellite Racing” said Williams. “I’ve enjoyed the sim racing experience with the Satellite team over the last several years, and taking that relationship in to the real world is the obvious next step.”
Team owner Matt Strand went on to add “We’re excited to bring Matt on with us here at Satellite. We’ve known him for quite some time and know the meticulous work he puts into all of his projects. Looking forward to Dori’s first run and seeing what he comes up with! Plus you can never have to many Matts on a team!”
The team has some lofty goals their trying to meet; under 1700 lbs and over 180 hp. Will be no easy task but the team is already hard at work in achieving them. The air cooled engine will be bored/stroked to 2110cc from 1600. It will also be converted to electronic fuel injection (EFI) via Megasquirt. Dori’s build is coming along nicely. We are scheduled to finish the build by mid June, with our first event in July. The SCCA Rallycross national championship is in October and we are working on plans to be there to represent Satellite Racing and ALSCCA on the national stage.
All of DD’s build progress can be followed here on the site under the Media Tab and also the teams facebook page.
